OKAY Hypermarket:
the World's Best Technology in Russian Retail

OKAY hypermarket is part of the centralised chain of trade complexes, the first European scale hypermarket in Russia (huge trade complex + entertainment centre). It occupies an area of 10,000 square metres, serves about ten thousand customers daily and offers them eighteen thousand items. The hypermarket houses cafes, various facilities and a beauty parlour. It has its own production line, a small shop where salads, convenience foods, grilled and smoked foods, and pastries are prepared cooked.


Problem

When establishing the hypermarket, OKAY’s management encountered the problem of optimal organisation of the information system and effective management – both of a local enterprise, and of the whole chain of trade complexes.

The traditional solution to this task was data exchange between two information systems. The first one was local and united sales area equipment. The other was an ERP system that automated business at the level of the head office.

Information exchange between the systems does not always run smoothly and fast, therefore this solution was not satisfactory for OKAY's management.


Finding a Solution

As the optimal instrument of business management Axapta Retail integrated the retail solution developed by Crystal Service Group on the basis of the Microsoft Business Solutions-Axapta ERP system. Due to the use of bar coding, all products are included in the information system. Stock-taking is made with the help of POS-terminals, data reading devices, computer scales, etc. The management of the hypermarkets has thus received an opportunity of monitoring stocktaking as promptly and precisely as possible.
